The Anti Slavery Collective launched a small grants programme in 2024 which funds grassroots organisations working to support survivors.
Grantees
The Sophie Hayes Foundation
Since 2011, The Sophie Hayes Foundation has been empowering women survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking to develop the skills and confidence to lead independent and free lives. Their programmes consist of coaching, facilitation, and training resources helping survivors grow in confidence and develop essential skills for future employment and education.
Bramber Bakehouse
For 10 years Bramber Bakehouse has been providing baking, wellbeing and employability workshops to female survivors of human trafficking. Their 8-week trauma-informed programme provides skills needed to gain access to employment and education alongside transferable skills and community, supporting women to recover from their past experiences and move forward with their lives.
Caritas Bakhita House
Opened in 2015, Caritas Bakhita House is a safe house for women who have been trafficked, enslaved or exploited, providing them with immediate, safe accommodation. At Bakhita House, women are able to restore personal dignity and become equipped with life and technical skills which encourage personal independence.
The Salvation Army, Dreams Choir
Since 2011, The Salvation Army and its partners have supported more than 12,500 survivors of modern slavery. Their ‘Dreams’ choir was formed out of the music therapy sessions, just one of the specialist activities developed by The Salvation Army. The weekly sessions welcome people from all over the world who come along to enjoy singing together, share with the group for mutual support, and meet with their support workers.
